Farm Fest

There are oodles of festivals, carnivals, parades and community events throughout the summer. We miss most of them because we spend a lot of our weekends at the farm. We stayed at the farm the entire week of the Fourth of July (Jorg was on vacation). It was our own Farm Fest. Some highlights were - a road trip to LaCrosse, watching fireworks in the valley, visiting our Amish friends in Black River Falls, enjoying fresh Amish produce, celebrating our anniversary at The Creamery, swimming at the Mondovi pool, spending time in the garden, getting an ice cream pail full of candy at the Gilmanton parade, cooking, and lots of Glenn and Elmer time.

Getting ready to watch fireworks on the Gator. Excited and frightened at the same time.

Daddy's Day

Our Father's Day could have been a Hallmark card. Boating, swimming and having a picnic on Lake Pepin. Sounds nice, huh? Of course there were some stressful moments (tricky boat landings, adventurous toddlers in the water, high waves). But we managed and had a lot of fun driving our new fishing boat with the kids. Thankfully my dad and nephew, Owen, were spending the weekend at the farm and could be extra hands on board. Maybe next year we can try fishing? Baby steps...
